Track Cycling

The “cycling track” is not a variant of the cycling, but proof of this. The special feature of track cycling test is in the particular place for conducting since this competition takes place in a velodrome and each time is mandatory to use track bikes, which are characterised by their size compared to the route, with the track slightly higher. The size of bicycles in the road race is smaller only for safety reasons, since lower risk of touching wheels with another competitor in the curves run.

We must emphasise that bikes tracks do not have any brakes, or changes, which means that they have in their structure a pinion which is fixed. Because of this, these bicycle pedals never be stopped by a typical or normal to common or current brake. But the only way to achieve some reduction in speed would be exerted pedal slightly in the opposite direction, meaning, backwards.

Among the tests performed in track cycling are: Single speed tests; There are also tests in equipment speed; the famous “Chases, both at the individual and team” are also performed; Points race; Keirin; Scratch; Madison, and the so-called “Kilometre time trial” which consists of many laps around the race course, so that upon completion of the distance of one kilometre time stops. Track Cycling test unlike other above named, is considered the most gruelling and adoration of all.
