Diving is recognised that the ornamental jumps are one of the sports in which more exquisiteness combine physical prowess with beauty in the manner. From a formal point of view, ornamental jumps constitute a discipline attached to swimming that is carrying out an acrobatic jump from a standard height.

At present and for competition purposes, trampolines are set to one, three or ten meters above the level of the pool, with the possibility of nailing individually or in well in sync with a second athlete.

Since the Stockholm Games in 1912, diving recognises the ornamental jumps as an Olympic sport for both sexes, so in the next edition will fulfill its first century as a discipline in this area. Diving is noted that since the 1904 Olympic days this sport was described, but exclusively for men.

Athletes dedicated to ornamental jumps are evaluated by five different instances by the court that is responsible for defining the best diving. They included in these stages to the race approach, including proper body posture; the momentum and control dedicated to diving; raising, valuing the coordination between the two athletes in synchronised diving event; execution of acrobatics and of course, the input mode to water.
